Our client is a very well funded fabless semiconductor start-up developing leading-edge wireless technology for consumer electronics, PC peripherals and industrial applications. With an exceptional engineering and management team already in place, they have an impressive track record of bringing leading semiconductor products to market.

Based in Cambridge, they have a brand new vacancy for a Principal ASIC Designer. This is a key position and will involve implementing and verifying complex sections of UWB modem and hardware units in VHDL for incorporation into ASICs. You will also contribute to the specification of these units and the algorithms they use, as well as to the selection of target IC technologies and third-party IP.

Requirements include:

- Extensive background in ASIC design, in VHDL and ideally also Verilog
- Expertise with verification and debug of complex designs, including the use of simulation, code coverage, etc.
- Experience to low-power design techniques
- Knowledge of OFDM systems and/or MAC architectures.
- Familiarity with Cadence or Magma synthesis and floor planning tools
